Patience

I am a single mom of 2 children. A boy who is 6 and a girl who is 3. I have a full time job and by the time I am done working I don't have any patience like I used to. What are some tips and advice to help me cope with just the normal behavior that now just push me sometimes over the edge?

Finding Patience
by: Ask Sara

Thank you for writing!

Patience is a toughy. When you get home from work you are exhausted and your mind moves to the mechanics of the evening...laundry, cleaning, dinner, etc. You are experiencing a normal response to a busy life.

There are a few simple things you can do to relax a little, which will increase your patience:

1. Breathe. Sounds silly, but take a few deep breaths. You will feel better, and you will realize how little you have been breathing.

2. Simplify. I just had big baskets in the living room for toys. Our meals were healthy but simple. We did a lot of finger foods, etc.

3. Acknowledge. You have your hands full. It is so easy to think, "I should be doing better, doing more, be on top of everything." It's not true, and it's not going to happen. Acknowledge that you have a lot on your plate and sit down and rest when you need too.

4. Prioritize. Decide what you really need to do and when, and let the rest go.

Hang in there, and remember...you are incredible!

Blessings,
Sara
