My best friends 19 year old daughter move out last night with her(daughters) 21 year old boyfriend.

What kind of advice can I give my friend? Her 19 year old daughter moved out last night with her 21 year old boyfriend of 18 months. He lives 2 hours away and works at Subway. Lives with his Mom. I have my own opinion on how'd I'd handle it but need what is the right but comforting way to talk to the Mom.

Never have used any site for a problem, makes me proud of my 3 children that are in their 40's and doing great.

Thank you.

Friend is hurting
by: Sara

Hey Beverly!

It's awesome that you are seeking to help your friend!

These transitions are tough! It can be a challenge when kids move out, and a challenge when they move away. To deal with both at the same time is really rough!

The young lady is an adult now. There isn't much a mom can do. It sounds like she knows the young man, and they will have a roof over their heads, and food to eat because they aren't on their own.

Obviously, they are just kids, and your friend is very worried. As I look back on classmates who did the same thing, and at my own adult son, I can say that kids figure it out, go to school, or move up at work. In other words, they figure out how to thrive.

Two hours isn't too far away. Your friend can visit often. She needs to keep the lines of communication open, and assure her daughter that mom is there for her, and that if she runs into trouble, she can call, or return home.

And...living with another family, often makes us appreciate our own more. :)

Congrats on your 3 great kids! Well done!

Blessings!
Sara
